From September 25 to 29, 2024, the Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE) was held at the Hangzhou Grand Convention & Exhibition Center. Under the theme “Digital Trade, Commerce Connects the World,” the expo brought together cutting-edge technologies, facilitated discussions on industry trends, and shared development achievements, aiming to establish itself as a benchmark event in the global digital trade sector.
Zheng Jianbang, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He noted that the rapid rise of global digital trade has become a new trend in international commerce and a key driver of the world economy. China places high importance on digital trade development and has emerged as one of the most dynamic regions in this field.
On September 26, 2024, Ms. Inès Ginon, CEO of GL events Greater China, and Mr. Lu Wangbin, COO of GL events Greater China, were invited to attend the 2024 Global Digital Ecosystem Conference & Global Digital Exhibition Innovation Conference (GDEC), held concurrently with GDTE.
During a closed-door meeting prior to the conference, Ms. Inès, along with other industry experts from China and abroad, was briefed on Hangzhou’s exhibition economy development plans and the establishment of the Global Digital Exhibition Innovation Center. Following the meeting, Vice Mayor Xu Weihua of Hangzhou warmly received the attendees. Ms. Inès expressed her honor in serving as an operational advisor throughout the design and construction phases of the Hangzhou Grand Convention & Exhibition Center. She emphasized GL events’ pride in contributing to the success of GDTE and announced that the 22nd China International Exhibition on Clinical Laboratory & Medical Equipment (CACLP), organized by GL events, will take place at the venue in March 2025. Moving forward, GL events remains committed to corporate social responsibility, promoting eco-friendly, energy-efficient, and professional exhibition concepts in collaboration with partners, supporting Hangzhou’s vision of becoming a “City of Events.”
During the conference, Ms. Inès representing GL events Group, signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with Hangzhou Convention & Exhibition Group. This partnership signifies a powerful alliance, with both parties exploring collaborations across multiple fields to realize the vision of “urban exhibitions driving city development.”
Mr. Lu Wangbin delivered a keynote speech titled “The Role of Exhibitions in Urban Development in the Digital Era.” He highlighted GL events’ continuous exploration of digital innovation across its three core business areas—venue management, event organization, and live experiences—to better serve the exhibition economy and propel urban growth.
Looking ahead, GL events will leverage digital thinking and innovative technologies to build a smart and green exhibition ecosystem nationwide. The company aims to create an open, internet-based platform for the entire exhibition industry, fostering integrated development across the value chain and helping cities establish themselves as premier destinations for international exhibitions and major events.
